The Ondo State Governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has reiterated his call for the unity of members of the ruling All Progressives Congress in the state.
To this end, the governor urged members of the House of Representatives from the state to view the overall development, peace, and stability of Ondo as a collective responsibility requiring the commitment of all.
Aiyedatiwa, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Ebenezer Adeniyan, on Saturday, said he held a dinner with the nine federal lawmakers in Akure on Friday evening.
According to the statement, the meeting focused on collaborations towards the development and stability of the state, and on building unity within the ruling APC ahead of the party’s congresses.
It added that discussions also centered on aligning federal and state development goals to ensure that Ondo continues to benefit from federal projects under the Renewed Hope administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Aiyedatiwa said his “administration will continue to prioritise the development of the state and welfare of the people over politics.”
“The collaboration (with the lawmakers) is a huge win for us in this state, as it is the kind of synergy needed to keep the momentum of development and stability going for our Sunshine State,” he added.
Speaking on behalf of the federal lawmakers, the member representing Akure South/Akure North Federal Constituency, Mr. Derin Adesida, thanked the governor for the meeting and commended him for the developmental strides of his administration in the state.
He pledged the support and loyalty of the lawmakers to the governor, promising to put politics aside and continue to contribute their quotas to the development of Ondo State and the growth of the APC in the state.
The House of Representatives members in attendance were: Derin Adesida (Akure South/Akure North), Abiola Makinde (Ondo East/Ondo West), Timehin Adelegbe (Owo/Ose), Gboyega Adefarati (Akoko South-West/Akoko South-East), Ife Ehindero (Akoko North-East/Akoko North-West), Festus Akingbaso (Idanre/Ifedore), Festus Adefiranye (Ileoluji-Okeigbo/Odigbo), Donald Ojogo (Ilaje/Ese-Odo), and Jimi Odimayo (Okitipupa/Irele).
