Head coach of the Super Eagles, Eric Chelle, has claimed it would have been “difficult” for him to continue if they lost to Egypt.
Nigeria played out a 0-0 draw with the Pharaohs in the
third-place clash at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The game went straight to penalties, where Stanley Nwabali
kept out the efforts of Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush, to ensure the Eagles
won 4-2.
This meant Nigeria claimed the bronze medal for the ninth
time at the AFCON.
Speaking after the match in Casablanca, Chelle said a defeat
would have made his future with the team uncertain.
“It would have been difficult to continue as the head coach
of Nigeria, if we had lost this match,” Chelle said.
