The Confederation of African Football, CAF, has sanctioned Algeria following series of incidents that occurred after the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final fixture against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
CAF’s disciplinary board imposed both sporting and financial
penalties on the Algerian Football
Federation (FAF).
They cited misconduct by players, officials, and supporters
during and after the match.
Goalkeeper Luca Zidane has been suspended for two matches.
He will serve the ban during the AFCON 2027 qualifiers.
Rafik Belghali received a four-match suspension, with two
matches suspended, meaning he will serve two matches immediately unless further
offences are committed.
CAF also imposed a fine of $100,000 on FAF for the improper
conduct of their players, officials and supporters.
