ADC inaugurates 50-member committee to form policy, manifesto

 

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has constituted a 50-member Wise Men and Women Policy and Manifesto Committee following approval by the party’s National Working Committee.


The committee was formally approved by the party’s National Chairman, Senator David Mark, as part of the ADC’s effort to develop a people-centred and forward-looking policy framework for national governance.


The committee comprises a distinguished mix of Nigerians from diverse fields, including former public office holders, academics, technocrats, policy experts, civil society leaders and other professionals.


A statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, Bolaji Abdullahi, said the members bring experience in governance, economic management, social development, security and democratic reform.


Chief John Odigie-Oyegun will serve as chairman of the committee, with Professor Pat Utomi as deputy chairman and Salihu Lukman as secretary.


Other members include Senator Gershon Bassey, Senator J. J. Akpan Udo-Udeghe, Ambassador Abiye Mohammed, Simon Achuba, Professor Ibrahim Garba, Bala Usman, Bulus Bello Zaki Piko, Ose Anenih, Dr Nicholas Msheliza, Dr David Olofu, Dr Okey Ezegwu, Dr Mohammed Jibrin Yusufari, Joel Adi Gani, Professor Jude Njoku, and Miss Yemi Adamolekun.

Also included are Professor Anthony Kila, Nkovo Toyo, Dr Usman Bugaje, Oseloka Obaze, Dr Otive Igbuzor, Engineer Bello Suleiman, Professor Chidi Odinkalu, AVM Sadique Abubakar, Madam Jumoke Olawuyi, Professor Murtala Sagagi, Dr Kerian Wobodo, Dr Fatima Zara Saleh, Professor Kolapo Eleka, Barrister Makber Oson Jacob, Mrs Moji Ajayi, Professor Sam Amadi, Dr Babayo Ardo, Pastor Funke Awowolo, Dr Ndubuisi Nwobu, Hon Aminu Muhammad Gumel, Ngozi Ndukwe, Professor Doknan Disent Sheni, Professor Saheed Malik, Dr Sunday Taiwako Anyabuga, Ms Helen Yashin, Dr John Markus Ayuba, Dr Chike Okogwu, Barrister Salametu A. Izuagie, Chief Uwaoma Olevengwa, Alhaja Hafsat Moji Bello and Hon Sani Yakubu Noma.


The committee is tasked with developing a clear and credible policy direction that reflects the aspirations of Nigerians and positions the ADC as a viable alternative for responsible leadership and national development.


Its formal inauguration is scheduled for Monday, February 2, 2026, at 12 noon at the ADC National Secretariat in Abuja.


The ADC emphasised that Nigeria’s challenges require policies anchored on competence, integrity and national consensus, and expressed confidence that the committee will produce a manifesto that addresses the real needs of Nigerians.
