The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has re-elected Yusuf Dantalle as its national chairman.
Dantalle was re-elected for another two-year term on Monday
in Abuja.
Dantalle is the national chairperson of the Allied Peoples
Movement (APM).
He reclaimed the IPAC chairmanship unanimously after Kenneth
Udeze of the Action Alliance, his only rival, withdrew from the contest.
IPAC serves as the umbrella organisation for all registered
political parties in Nigeria.
Other elected officers are Zainab Ibrahim (deputy national
chairman), Maxwell Mgbudem (national secretary), and Maryam Garba Bagel (deputy
national secretary).
Dipo Olayoku (national treasurer), Chinyere Kalu (national
organising secretary), Umar Mohammed (national financial secretary), Martins
Egbeola (national publicity secretary), and Obed Agu (national legal adviser)
make up the executive team.
Speaking afterwards, Dantalle said the election is a
“victory for sustainable democracy and development in IPAC and the nation”.
“It is our collective victory and a triumph of hope for a
better, greater and brighter Inter Party Advisory Council,” he said.
Dantalle added that he kept his promise to establish the
directorates for women, youth, and persons with disabilities.
“IPAC will keep growing from strength to strength as we
collaborate with stakeholders and citizens to build a strong, virile, united,
equitable and inclusive democratic nation,” he said.
