Sketchy details have emerged why Edo State House of Assembly Service Commission sacked 324 newly-recruited workers.
It was gathered that 724 employees were recruited into the commission in September.
The source said the commission was granted permission to employ 300 workers.
The source said several influential individuals forwarded names for employment after the 300 names were shortlisted for appointment.
According to the source, “those who were sacked were those in excess of the number required for employment. The new workers are still doing biometric.
“They thought it was business as usual in workers recruited where more than necessary personnel were employed.”
Chairman of Edo House of Assembly Service Commission, Sir. Ezehi Igbas, said those sacked were the last batch of workers that were recruited.
Igbas, in an earlier statement, said the letter issued to the 324 sacked workers was unauthorised, illegal and unlawful.
“Consequently, all employment letters issued to the 324 people in respect thereof, by Edo State House of Assembly Service Commission are null, void and of no effect whatsoever.
“Edo State House of Assembly Service Commission hereby tenders an unreserved apology to recipients of the unauthorised and unlawful employment letters and deeply regrets inconveniences caused to people affected by its actions.”
