The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has expressed delight over the defection of former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to the party.
In a post on its verified X handle on Wednesday, the ADC
welcomed Obi, saying he has the right to the party just like any other member.
“We are delighted to officially welcome the former two-term
Governor of Anambra State, and Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party in
the 2023 General Election, Mr. Peter Obi, into our party, the ADC,” the post
read.
Recall that Obi on Wednesday, alongside other leaders of the
South-East, defected to the ADC.
Obi said his defection is aimed at transforming and rescuing
Nigeria
He also vowed that the opposition party would lawfully
and legitimately resist any attempt to rig the 2027 election.
