The Nasarawa State Police Command has verified an armed robbery incident that claimed the lives of two individuals on the Gadar Bala section of the Doma-Yelwa road late Wednesday night.
According to sources, unknown gunmen ambushed a 911 truck transporting goods and passengers from Rukubi town around 11:30 p.m.
The attackers reportedly fired at the vehicle, killing the driver, Yusuf Dogara, a resident of Madawaki Ward in Doma, and a female passenger, Nano Gideon, from Akaba Agyaragu in Obi Local Government Area.
Patrol teams, assisted by vigilantes and local hunters, quickly responded to the scene. The victims were rushed to Doma General Hospital, where they were declared dead on arrival.
Their remains have been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy. Other passengers who sustained injuries are receiving medical treatment and are said to be stable.
Authorities have launched a full investigation to track down and arrest the suspects, who fled the scene.
The police have appealed to residents to stay alert and promptly report any unusual activities to help enhance security in the area.
