Troops Uncover Bomb Planted on Borno road, Arrest Suspected Terrorist Logistics Suppliers

Nigerian troops operating under the Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI have achieved significant successes in counter-terrorism efforts, including the safe neutralization of an improvised explosive device (IED) and the arrest of two individuals suspected of supplying logistics to Boko Haram/ISWAP insurgents in Borno State.

According to a statement released on December 20, 2025, by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the Media Information Officer for Operation HADIN KAI, the operations were conducted as part of Operations Desert Sanity IV and V.

On December 17, 2025, soldiers from the 25 Brigade, while patrolling the main supply route along the Damboa-Komala axis, discovered a planted IED.

The device was quickly secured and detonated in a controlled manner, preventing potential harm to military personnel and civilian travelers on the road.

In a separate intelligence-led operation on December 19, 2025, troops at a checkpoint on the Maiduguri-Bama Road intercepted a vehicle registered in Lagos with license plate AKD 244 YE.

The vehicle was loaded with large quantities of food items and energy drinks believed to be destined for Boko Haram/ISWAP elements in the Kirawa Ward area of Gwoza Local Government Area.

Two suspects were detained during the interception. Recovered items included the assorted food and drinks, three mobile phones, an identity card, a ring, and various amounts of cash in Nigerian Naira and CFA francs.

The suspects, along with the vehicle and seized items, have been transferred to military intelligence authorities for further investigation and appropriate action.

The military high command praised the troops for their vigilance and professionalism, encouraging them to maintain momentum in operations.

Operation HADIN KAI reiterated its commitment to disrupting terrorist logistics chains, denying insurgents freedom of movement, and safeguarding communities in Nigeria's North East region.
