Soldiers from the 8 Division Nigerian Army have eliminated 11 terrorists and recovered weapons during a deadly early-morning ambush in Kurawa village, Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The successful operation, conducted under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, took place at approximately 0645 hours on Sunday, reliable military sources told Zagazola Makama.
Acting on credible human intelligence, troops of the 8 Division Garrison Strike Team laid a precision ambush along a known crossing route after receiving reports that a band of terrorists was attempting to move towards Tara village in the same LGA.
The terrorists ran into the well-coordinated blockade and were overwhelmed in the ensuing firefight.
Eleven terrorists were confirmed neutralised on the spot.Weapons and other combat items were recovered from the scene, although details of the exact cache are still being compiled by the military.
The operation further degrades the operational capacity of terrorist elements in the Sabon Birni axis and reinforces the Nigerian Army’s dominance in the ongoing counter-insurgency campaign in the North-West.
