President Bola Tinubu has asked the senate to confirm Victor Ikeji as commissioner of the Federal Character Commission (FCC) representing Abia state.
Tinubu made the request in a letter to the upper chamber
read by Godswill Akpabio, the senate president, during Thursday’s plenary.
Tinubu said the nomination was made in line with section 154
(1) of the 1999 constitution as amended.
He said the appointment of Ikeji is to replace Obinna
Oriaku, who was earlier nominated in a letter dated October 9.
Tinubu said he hoped the senate would “consider and confirm
the appointment of Victor Ikeji as commissioner of the Federal Character
Commission”.
Akpabio referred the letter to the committee on federal
character and inter-governmental relations. He directed the panel to report
back within one week.
