Steve Babaeko, the music executive, has called on Nigerians to stand by Burna Boy and refrain from participating in the global condemnation of the Grammy winner.
Babaeko, the founder/CEO of X3M Music, a Lagos-based record label, addressed the recent controversy surrounding the ‘African Giant’ singer at the 13th edition of NECLive, urging his compatriots not to join the chorus of public rebuke hastily.
“This is one of Burna’s concerts and I know what is going
on, but I am here to say nobody is perfect, Burna is one of our own and we
should never think of joining the world to cancel Burna,” he said.
Burna has faced intense scrutiny in recent weeks over a
viral incident at his concert in Colorado, where he ejected a couple in the
front row for sleeping during his performance.
The lovers were seen leaving the auditorium to a mix of boos
and cheers from the crowd.
The incident sparked widespread discussion, which
intensified after an Instagram live session where Burna Boy stated he only
wants supporters who buy his tickets.
The criticism intensified when it was later revealed that
the woman in question was reportedly grieving a recent personal loss.
The fallout appears to have extended to the singer’s touring
schedule.
Burna Boy recently cancelled two key concert stops on his
‘No Sign of Weakness’ United States tour.
While tour organisers have not officially cited a reason for
the cancellations, sources indicate the decision followed the wave of negative
public reaction.

Burna Boy is a spoilt brat. He could be famous but he also must learn to be humble thus knowing how to manage his fame. He once boasted as the king of Afrobeat in Nigeria. He must focus and do his own thing and not to get into avoidable issues.
