In a major development ahead of the Osun State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary, seven prominent aspirants have withdrawn from the race and endorsed former Chief of Staff to the Governor, Bola Oyebamiji, as the consensus candidate following a crucial meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa.
The closed-door meeting, convened by the President to resolve the lingering crisis within the Osun APC, saw the aspirants pledge their support for Oyebamiji in the interest of party unity.
Notably absent from the meeting was former National Secretary of the APC, Senator Iyiola Omisore, who boycotted the session.
Omisore had earlier dismissed his reported disqualification from the primary as “a joke.”
The aspirants who officially stepped down are:
Benedict Olugboyega Alabi (former Deputy Governor)
Dotun Babayemi
Akin Ogunbiyi
Senator Babajide Omoworare
Kunle Adegoke (SAN)
Babatunde Haketer Oralusi
Mulikat Abiola Jimoh
