The Senate, through its Selection Committee chaired by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, has announced the reconstitution of several standing committees.
Key changes include:
National Security and Intelligence: Senator Yahaya Abdullahi (Kebbi) takes over as Chairman. He previously headed the National Planning Committee.
Livestock and Animal Husbandry: Senator Shehu Buba (Bauchi) has been appointed Chairman, following his removal last week as Chairman of the National Security and Intelligence Committee.
National Planning: Senator Mustafa Musa (Yobe) is the new Chairman.
Air Force: Senator Osita Ngwu (Enugu), the Senate Minority Whip, has been named Acting Chairman. He was previously Deputy Chairman of the committee, which was led by Senator Akwashiki who has been indisposed.
The reconstitution is part of ongoing efforts to reposition the Senate’s oversight functions for greater effectiveness.
