The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has completed a smooth leadership transition, with outgoing Authority Chief Executive Engr. Farouk Ahmed formally handing over to incoming chief Engr. Saidu Aliyu Mohammed during a ceremony held on Tuesday in Abuja.
The event, attended by executive directors, senior management, and staff, featured the symbolic transfer of official documents and responsibilities, emphasizing the authority's dedication to institutional continuity, accountability, and effective leadership.
Engr. Saidu Aliyu Mohammed, a seasoned chemical engineer with over four decades of experience in the oil and gas sector, was nominated by President Bola Tinubu following Ahmed's resignation on December 17, 2025, and subsequently confirmed by the Senate.
Prior to this role, Mohammed held key positions including Managing Director of Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company, and contributed significantly to major projects such as the Escravos-Lagos Pipeline Expansion and the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline.
The transition follows Ahmed's departure amid prior controversies, marking a new chapter for the regulatory body responsible for overseeing Nigeria's midstream and downstream petroleum operations under the Petroleum Industry Act.
