Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed off on a temporary visa-free entry regime for Chinese nationals, which officially takes effect on December 1, 2025.
The new policy allows Chinese citizens to enter Russia without a visa for tourism, business trips, private visits, and cultural or educational exchanges through designated airports and land border crossings.
Visitors can stay for up to 30 days per visit within any 180-day period, provided they do not engage in paid work or long-term residence.
The measure is a direct reciprocal response to China’s one-year visa waiver for Russian citizens introduced earlier and will remain in force until September 14, 2026.
The decision underscores the rapidly strengthening Russia–China partnership, fueled by record-high bilateral trade and a sharp increase in direct flights between the two countries.
Russian officials anticipate a significant boost in Chinese tourist arrivals, particularly to popular destinations such as Lake Baikal, as air connectivity continues to expand.
