The President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (PBAT) Media Centre has firmly rejected claims that President Bola Tinubu or the Presidency is distributing buses to Nigerians in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Centre clarified that the bus distribution making the rounds on social media is the sole initiative of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, a voluntary support group that has operated independently since the President’s campaign days.
“The Renewed Hope Ambassadors is one of several independent groups that have consistently organized empowerment programmes to promote the Renewed Hope agenda. This particular activity has no link whatsoever to the President or the Presidency,” the statement read.
While acknowledging public excitement over the gesture, the Centre urged Nigerians not to misinterpret or politicize the actions of enthusiastic supporters, noting that similar empowerment efforts by the group predate the current administration and the present economic challenges.
The PBAT Media Centre used the opportunity to highlight what it called verifiable achievements of the Tinubu administration in the last 20 months, including:
GDP growth of 3.98% in the most recent quarter
Inflation rate reduced to 16%
Over 700,000 students benefiting from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND)
More than ₦30 billion disbursed through the Consumer Credit Scheme
Foreign reserves now exceeding $46 billion
Ongoing construction of landmark projects such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway, and the rehabilitation of the Abuja-Calabar Highway
Complete overhaul of Murtala Muhammed International Airport and reforms in passport issuance and the aviation sector.
On security, the Centre admitted the upsurge in terrorist attacks in parts of Northern Nigeria but insisted the administration is tackling the challenge “head-on.”
It described attempts to link the independent actions of support groups to President Tinubu without evidence as “disingenuous, misleading, and politically motivated.”
