The Nigeria Police Force has arrested two high-profile bandits and kidnapping kingpins linked to a wave of violent crimes spanning multiple states.
The arrests took place on December 19, 2025, during a joint covert operation by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) and the Kwara State Police Command.
The suspects were intercepted along the Komen–Masallaci axis in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The individuals in custody are Abubakar Usman, alias "Siddi," aged 26, and Shehu Mohammadu, alias "Gide," aged 30, both apprehended in Komen–Masallaci village.
Items recovered from the suspects include:
One brand-new red Honda Ace 125 motorcycle, valued at ₦1,850,000, reportedly bought with ransom proceeds;
₦500,000 in cash, believed to be leftover ransom money;
One AK-47 rifle with a magazine containing 20 rounds of live ammunition.
Initial investigations confirm that the duo belongs to a dangerous syndicate responsible for banditry and kidnappings in Zamfara, Katsina, Niger, and Kwara States.
The gang is also suspected of supplying arms and ammunition to other criminal groups.One of the suspects, Abubakar Usman (Siddi), gained notoriety after appearing in a recent viral social media video displaying firearms and wads of cash.
The suspects are currently assisting police with inquiries, which are expected to lead to the arrest of additional gang members and the recovery of more weapons.
Inspector-General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun praised the operatives for their dedication and reaffirmed the Force's commitment to eradicating banditry, kidnapping, and related threats to public safety.
