Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has clarified his longstanding affiliation with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition, dismissing recent speculation that he is newly "joining" the group as misleading.
During a live X Spaces session on Sunday, Obi emphasized his involvement from the coalition's inception, framing it as a unified effort to address Nigeria's mounting crises.
"I'm not new to ADC; I've been part of the coalition from day one. Together, we are coming together to rescue our nation from this existential threat," Obi stated.
He further elaborated: "I am part of the Coalition of the ADC; I have contributed from the inception. All of us will come together because things are collapsing. How can I join what I am already part of?"
Obi highlighted the coalition's focus on fostering unity, promoting competent governance, and placing the needs of ordinary Nigerians at the forefront amid economic and social challenges.
He noted that his participation dates back to the coalition's formation in mid-2025, underscoring that the group represents a proactive response to the country's "existential threats" rather than a last-minute political shift.
The clarification comes as political discussions intensify ahead of potential future elections, with Obi positioning the ADC coalition as a vehicle for national recovery and stability.
