Victor Osimhen has been named the Gentlemen Quarterly (GQ) sportsman of the year in Turkey.
The 26-year-old received the prize at a black tie event held
in Istanbul on Wednesday.
The annual award is organised by the Turkish edition of the
GQ Magazine, the international men’s fashion media outfit, to celebrate
achievers across multiple industries from music to film and sports.
Osimhen won the prize for his instrumental performance with
Galatasaray last season, scoring 37 goals and provided seven assists in 41
games to help the club clinch the title.
The propelled
Galatasaray to break the Turkish transfer record of €75 million to sign him
permanently from Napoli.
Osimhen has continued his impressive for the club this
season and has already scored 11 goals in 14 matches.
There are 11 other winners on the night. Aras Aydın, Turkish
actor, was named the international achiever of the year while Sinem Ünsal,
Turkish actress, won the woman of the year prize.
Edis, the British-Turkish singer-songwriter, was awarded the
music person of the year. Bahtiyar Büyükduman was also named the chef of the
year.
