One Dead, Dozens Kidnapped as Bandits Hit Zamfara Communities


Armed bandits launched multiple raids across Zurmi and Bungudu Local Government Areas of Zamfara State between Saturday night and Monday afternoon, leaving one person dead and at least 27 others abducted, security sources confirmed.


The first attack struck Tungar Tsamiya village in Moriki District, Zurmi LGA, around 10:40 p.m. on November 30. Gunmen killed one resident on the spot and seized 10 villagers before fleeing into the night. 


Security forces immediately began a search-and-rescue operation.Less than 12 hours later, on Monday morning, another bandit group ambushed people collecting firewood in Doguwar Gona forest, still within Moriki District. 


The attackers kidnapped 17 men and women. Troops and intelligence units are actively tracking the abductors in an effort to free the captives.


In a third incident on Monday afternoon, December 1, heavily armed gunmen stormed Makwa village in Kurar Mota District of Bungudu LGA around 12:15 p.m., abducting an unspecified number of residents.


Military personnel from Operation FANSAN YANMA, police units, and local vigilantes have intensified patrols and rescue missions across the affected areas. 


Search-and-rescue operations remain ongoing as authorities work to locate all victims and restore security to the communities.
