Osun State Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi, has explained the reasons behind Governor Ademola Adeleke’s defection to the Accord Party.
Speaking in an interview on ‘The Morning Brief’, the
commissioner cited a leadership tussle within the Peoples Democratic Party,
PDP, as a key factor.
Adeleke formally joined the Accord Party on Tuesday evening,
following his resignation from PDP.
“Looking back at what actually caused all this moving away
from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, you just say it’s a popular thing in
the country, which is known to everybody. The leadership tussle in the PDP has
refused to go and any right thinking member will not actually advise Governor
Adeleke to still continue to go ahead and contest for second term under the
party which is struggling with leadership. So many people have been talking to
the governor about the need to go for second term,” he said.
