NNPP is Nigeria's most organised party, says Kwankwaso

Rabiu Kwankwaso, the former governor of Kano, says the New Nigeria People’s Party (PDP) is the most organised political party in Nigeria.

Kwankwaso spoke on Friday at the party’s national executive committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja.

He urged members who will vote at the party’s convention, scheduled for Saturday in Abuja, to display unity and discipline, noting that stability within the NNPP remains critical ahead of the 2027 elections.

“I want you to keep on moving. As we know, tomorrow is our national convention day, and all of us will be there to witness the historic event once again. It is our understanding that as much as possible, people should continue in their positions,” he said.

“Some, of course, will be promoted while some, for whatever reason, may be reassigned in the party. We want that spirit to continue so that we can have a very successful election tomorrow.

“We were able to conduct elections and congresses from the local governments, state, and of course, the wards successfully.

“What we have seen over time is that the party has decided to follow the footsteps of Kwankwasiya in terms of discipline, commitment and honesty. So, I say congratulations to all of us.

“We have been quiet operators, not making too much noise. It is a fact that not everyone knows we have been holding these congresses in this country because of discipline. Of course, we are not the biggest party in terms of numbers today.

“But I believe we are the most organised, most prolific, and most performing party in this country.

“It is not the number that matters, especially now that the election is approaching. It is the solidarity, understanding, and commitment that matter.”

Kwankwaso said the party’s unity would attract new members in the coming months.

“We know at the end of the day, others will find it more convenient to come and stay in our party. And that is what we are trying to do,” he added.

The NNPP is facing a leadership crisis, with one faction led by Major Agbo and supported by Boniface Aniebonam, the party’s founder, and another backed by Kwankwaso under Ajuji Ahmed.
