Organized labour leaders, headed by Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President Joe Ajaero, have reached a truce with a Federal Government intervention team led by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum.
The two sides held closed-door meetings yesterday and in the early hours today in Abuja to resolve outstanding issues, particularly concerning security, workers' welfare, and the economy.
Following the discussions, labour leaders announced the suspension of the nationwide protest and commended President Bola Tinubu for steps taken to address workers' core demands.
The government's delegation also included Governors Nasiru Idris of Kebbi, Monday Okpebholo of Edo, Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi, and Minister of State for Labour and Employment Nkiru Onyejeocha.
This breakthrough is expected to ease tensions and foster continued dialogue on national issues affecting workers.
