The Honourable Minister of Education, Professor Tahir Mamman, has officially inaugurated three public basic and secondary schools in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
The newly commissioned facilities include:
- A nursery and primary boarding school
- A fully rehabilitated secondary school that was severely damaged during the 2024 flood disaster
- Two newly constructed Government Day Secondary Schools located in Maiduguri Metropolitan Council (MMC), Jere, and Bayo Local Government Areas.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the Minister commended the Borno State Government for its commitment to revitalising education in the state despite years of insurgency and recent natural disasters.
In a major boost to digital learning, the Borno State Government also handed over modern teaching and learning tools valued at millions of naira, including:
5,230 desktop computers
2,760 tablets
131 projector screens
600 projectors
3D pens
Solar power systems to ensure uninterrupted smart learning in the schools
The provision of solar-powered infrastructure is particularly significant in a region where electricity supply remains inconsistent.
The projects are part of ongoing efforts by both the federal and Borno State governments to rebuild and expand educational infrastructure, improve access to quality education, and equip students with 21st-century digital skills in the North-East region.
