In a bid to manage the expected influx of worshippers and fans, the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has announced extended operating hours for the Blue Line rail service ahead of 'The Experience 2025', Africa's largest annual gospel music extravaganza.
The all-night concert, founded in 2006 by Pastor Paul Adefarasin of House on the Rock Church, is set for Friday, December 5, drawing thousands to Tafawa Balewa Square on Lagos Island with performances from local and international artists.
To ease pre- and post-event traffic chaos, LAMATA will stretch Blue Line services beyond their standard 9:30 p.m. cutoff.
On Friday, December 5, the Blue Line will run until 11:43 p.m., allowing late-night returns for attendees.
The following morning, Saturday, December 6, services will kick off at 4:00 a.m. and continue until the usual 9:30 p.m. close, catering to early risers and those heading home after the overnight event.
The Red Line, however, will stick to its regular schedule on Friday—morning peak from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., and evening peak from 5:20 p.m. to 8:40 p.m. with no Saturday operations. Normal timetables resume across both lines from Sunday, December 7.
LAMATA's Head of Corporate Communication, Kolawole Ojelabi, emphasized the move as a proactive step against commuter surges.
"We are committed to providing safe and reliable transport options," he said, urging passengers to use Cowry Cards for seamless access and to follow station protocols.
Both lines will remain open to the general public, but event-goers are advised to plan ahead, arrive early, and cooperate with rail staff for a hitch-free journey.
