Lagos APC mourns as ex-deputy gov loses son

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has been thrown into mourning following the death of Oluwafemi Adefulire, the only son of a former Lagos State Deputy Governor, Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, Vanguard reports on Thursday.

Oluwafemi, a medical doctor based in the United Kingdom, reportedly died early Wednesday after undergoing an undisclosed surgery in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

A family source confirmed the development, noting that he is survived by his wife and children.

News of the tragedy has unsettled political circles across Lagos and beyond, with party members and associates expressing shock over the loss.

In a condolence message issued on Thursday, APC Publicity Secretary, Seye Oladejo, said the party was devastated by the death of the son of one of its prominent leaders in Alimosho.

When contacted, Vanguard stated that Oladejo said, “It’s sadly true. The kind of incident most dreadful for parents. APC is devastated.

“Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire is an exceptionally good person. The entire party structure has been thrown into mourning over this humongous tragedy. May his precious soul rest in peace.”

Princess Orelope-Adefulire served as Lagos State Deputy Governor between 2011 and 2015 under former Governor Babatunde Fashola.

She is currently the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a role she also held under former President Muhammadu Buhari.

A respected grassroots mobiliser, she is the APC Political Apex Leader of Alimosho Federal Constituency and a member of the influential Lagos State Governor’s Advisory Council .
