The Kano State Police Command has achieved a major breakthrough in its fight against kidnapping and cattle rustling, arresting five suspects during coordinated, intelligence-driven raids in Kiru and Tsanyawa Local Government Areas.
According to a statement released by the Command's Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, operatives from the Anti-Kidnapping Squad acted swiftly on credible intelligence to cordon off Rahma Roundabout in Kiru LGA, leading to the arrest of four suspects.
One of the key suspects, 25-year-old Shafiu Ibrahim from Auchanawa Village in Ikara LGA, Kaduna State, confessed to being part of a notorious kidnapping syndicate and admitted involvement in multiple cattle rustling incidents.
A TVS motorcycle believed to have been used in criminal activities was recovered from him.
The remaining three suspects are currently under interrogation for various other serious offences.
In a separate but related operation, a joint team comprising the Dragon Unit, Anti-Kidnapping Squad, and Tsanyawa Police Division apprehended 24-year-old Bishir Umar from Karaduwa LGA in Katsina State at Mahuta Village in Tsanyawa LGA.
Bishir confessed that he and his fleeing accomplices had entered Kano State on two motorcycles armed with a rifle, intending to carry out further crimes.
He was nabbed while conducting surveillance, but his partners escaped with the weapons and motorcycles.
The Command assured the public that thorough investigations are ongoing, and all suspects will be prosecuted upon conclusion of the probe.
Authorities commended residents for providing vital intelligence and urged continued vigilance and prompt reporting of suspicious activities to enhance security across the state.
