The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, under the influence of former Governor and national party figure Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has extended a formal invitation to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to leave the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and join the ruling APC.
Speaking on behalf of Ganduje, State APC Chairman Abdullahi Abbas announced the invitation on December 30, framing it as an opportunity for political unity and faster development in Kano.
“The APC is ready to receive Governor Abba Yusuf with open arms so that, together, we can combine our strengths for the progress of the state,” Abbas stated.
He emphasized that aligning with the APC would enable better collaboration with the federal government, leading to improved infrastructure projects and greater benefits for Kano residents.
The invitation has sparked fresh political discussions in the state, particularly amid ongoing reports of tensions within the NNPP and the Kwankwasiyya movement.
While no official response has come from Governor Yusuf's camp, the development underscores efforts to bridge political divides ahead of future elections.
The Kano APC maintains that the call is rooted in reconciliation and collective advancement rather than confrontation.
