Kaduna Seals $200M Chinese Investment to Build West Africa’s Biggest Poultry Powerhouse

Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has landed in China to sign final agreements for a landmark $200 million integrated poultry and feed production project that will be the largest of its kind in West Africa.

Speaking on arrival in Beijing, Governor Sani described the deal as a direct outcome of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership sealed in September and a major pillar of President Bola Tinubu’s agricultural transformation drive.

When fully operational, the 10,000-hectare agro-industrial complex is expected to:

  • Generate $450 million in annual revenue
  • Create over 350,000 direct and indirect jobs
  • End chronic poultry feed shortages by producing its own maize and soybean on-site
  • Significantly lower feed costs for farmers across Nigeria
  • Strengthen national food security

The project combines massive modern poultry farms with dedicated crop cultivation for animal feed, tackling one of the industry’s biggest bottlenecks head-on.

Groundbreaking for the pilot phase is scheduled for next month in Kaduna.Governor Sani is heading a high-level Nigerian delegation that includes the Director General of the Nigeria–China Strategic Partnership.

The team is holding intensive talks with leading Chinese conglomerates, including China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), to secure technology transfer, infrastructure financing, and long-term investment commitments.

“This is transformative investment, not just another handshake,” Governor Sani told reporters at Beijing Capital International Airport, where he was received by senior Chinese officials.

“President Tinubu has given us a clear mandate to deliver prosperity through agriculture.

"Today, with our Chinese partners, we are turning that vision into reality and positioning Kaduna as the undisputed agro-industrial capital of Africa.”
