United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers have taken into custody a 67-year-old Nigerian national, Aderemi Joe Akefe, following his conviction for cocaine trafficking.
The arrest was announced by the Department of Homeland Security on Friday, December 5, 2025.Akefe, described by authorities as a “criminal illegal alien,” is currently detained at the ICE North Lake Processing Facility in Baldwin, Michigan, alongside other high-priority criminal offenders.“
Aderemi Joe Akefe is a 67-year-old criminal illegal alien from Nigeria with criminal convictions for conspiracy to distribute cocaine,” the DHS statement read.Immigration officials confirmed that all legal proceedings have been completed and Akefe now faces imminent removal from the United States.“
Akefe has a final order of removal from an immigration judge,” the statement added.
