Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has expressed profound grief over a fatal motor accident that claimed the lives of seven residents from the Lawanti community in Akko Local Government Area.
The victims were traveling to Maiduguri in Borno State to attend a wedding ceremony when the tragedy occurred.
In a statement released on Saturday by the Director-General of Press Affairs, Ismaila Uba Misilli, Governor Yahaya described the incident as a "painful and devastating loss" to the bereaved families, the Lawanti community, Akko LGA, and the entire state.
He emphasized that the untimely deaths have deeply affected many, stating that no words can fully console those who have lost loved ones in such circumstances.
The governor extended specific condolences to prominent figures affected, including the District Head of Jalingo, Bello Hassan Babangida, who lost his sister and niece; Idris Lawanti Maigari, who lost his daughter; and Councillor Idris A. Isah Lawanti, who lost close relatives.
Governor Yahaya prayed for Almighty Allah to grant the bereaved the strength and fortitude to bear the loss, while asking for divine mercy, forgiveness of the deceased's shortcomings, and their admission into Aljannatul Firdaus.
