Governor Okpebholo’s comment on North reveals conspiracy theory – ADC

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, is has criticised Governor Monday Okpebholo over his recent comments on insecurity, describing them as insensitive and troubling.

In a statement issued by its spokesman, Bolaji Abdullahi on X, the party said the governor’s remarks were “not just careless, they are disturbing.”

The controversy started after a comment attributed to the governor.

The Governor reportedly said: “They are kidnapping people because somebody wants to win election, it’s not fair. They did this to former President Jonathan and they succeeded, but we know their trick already.”

But Abdullahi noted that many families are still grieving and hoping for the safe return of their loved ones, yet “instead of giving them answers, this APC government is busy spinning fancy conspiracy theories.”

He said the situation is shameful and reflects the kind of mindset driving the ruling party.

According to him, “when government replaces hard evidence and real intelligence with baseless accusations and conspiracy theories, you know that we have a serious problem.”

Abdullahi questioned whether the governor understood the implications of his claims, reminding him that “the person that led the weaponisation of insecurity to discredit GEJ is the same man that is in power today.”

He also wondered why a public official would make such a statement.
