Gov. Abba Yusuf Sets Up Task Force to Secure Motor Parks in Kano Amid Rising Insecurity

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the immediate creation of a Special Task Force to address security threats in motor parks and other vulnerable public spaces across the state.

The announcement was made in a statement issued on Sunday, December 15, 2025, by the governor's spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

The initiative reflects the governor's determination to prevent criminal activities and protect key entry and exit points, particularly in the Kano metropolitan area, where motor parks have become high-risk zones due to heavy human traffic.

Recent incidents, including the arrest of suspected criminals at Kofar Ruwa Motor Park, have highlighted the need for enhanced security measures.

The task force will focus on intensive surveillance, intelligence gathering, and coordinated operations at motor parks, as well as ancillary locations such as filling stations and other public areas frequented by transient populations.

Governor Yusuf described the move as a proactive effort to neutralize potential threats, improve inter-agency collaboration, and restore public confidence in safety.

He reiterated his administration's zero-tolerance policy toward crime and pledged full support to security agencies in safeguarding lives and property throughout Kano State.
