FG Begins Direct Stipend Payments to 42,000 TVET Trainees Nationwide

The Federal Government has kicked off the disbursement of the first tranche of funds under its renewed Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme, directly crediting over 42,000 students and more than 600 accredited training centres across Nigeria.

Each of the 42,000 beneficiaries now receives a monthly stipend of ₦22,500 to cover living and transport expenses, allowing them to focus entirely on their vocational training without financial distraction.

At the same time, over 600 private and independent training providers have received payments for instructional services and practical training delivered, guaranteeing the programme’s standards and sustainability.

The exercise signals the start of regular funding cycles, with additional tranches scheduled in the coming months as part of the administration’s sustained investment in skills development.

Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, stated that the rapid execution of the payments is in direct fulfilment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s instruction to prioritise massive investment in Nigerian youth through practical, job-creating education.
