The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ola Olukoyede, was on Sunday, honoured with the Nigeria Excellence Awards in Public Service for his outstanding leadership and contributions to national transformation.
The awards, an initiative of the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation in collaboration with The Best Strategic Media, were presented at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja.
The ceremony drew state governors, ministers, heads of MDAs, and private sector players.
Speaking on behalf of President Bola Tinubu, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr George Akume, said the awards were created to recognise exceptional performance in public service.
“The awards are instituted to recognise excellent service delivery by public office holders towards the transformation of the country,” Akume said.
He added that the initiative was highly selective, noting, “The award was only given to exceptional 44 chief executives across all appointees and governors.”
Olukoyede was specifically recognised for his sterling leadership at the EFCC, where the commission recorded recoveries running into hundreds of billions of naira, traced and recovered significant assets, and strengthened efforts to curb money laundering.
“These reforms are not just numbers on a ledger; they represent a renewed commitment to transparency, accountability, and the fight against corruption in Nigeria,” Olukoyede said while receiving the award.
He also highlighted the broader impact of the EFCC’s work under his leadership, “Our sustained efforts contributed to Nigeria’s exit from the FATF grey list in October 2025, a milestone that signals improved financial integrity and global confidence in our economy.”
Other recipients included five state governors, ministers, and top officials from MDAs who demonstrated excellence in public service across the country.
