Former media aide to late ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, has said the Christmas Eve bombing in Maiduguri, Borno State, will be misinterpreted in two or three years to come.
Ahmad said the bombing will be narrated as evidence of
Muslims killing Christians in the North.
On Wednesday, terrorists suspected to be Boko Haram
insurgents, detonated an improvised explosive device, IED, at a Juma’at Mosque
while the Maghrib prayer was ongoing.
The mosque was located at the Gamboru Ward, around the
Customs area in Maiduguri.
Reacting, Ahmad said false narrative would be weaponized
while truth is buried by sensationalism.
Posting on X, he wrote: “In the near future, perhaps two or
three years from now, this attack on Muslim faithful praying in a Mosque, will
likely be narrated as evidence of Muslims killing Christians in the North.
“That outcome would not be accidental. It would be the
direct result of how some major media outlets, particularly @channelstv and
@TheNationNews, chose to deliberately manipulate the story to suit and oil a
prevailing narrative.
“When facts are twisted, contexts erased, and headlines
engineered for engagement rather than truth, today’s misinformation becomes
tomorrow’s so-called historical record.
“This is how false narratives are built, sustained and
eventually weaponized, long after the truth has been buried under
sensationalism.”
