Suspected bandits have once again unleashed terror on Bundu Kahugu community in Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing three residents and abducting three others in a late-night attack.
The assault occurred around 11 p.m. on Monday, December 29, 2025, plunging the village into chaos and mourning as gunmen fired sporadically.
The victims killed in the raid have been identified as Felix Augustine, Luka Yakubu, and Ezra Namata.
Community leader Ishaya Dauda described the incident as the second attack on Bundu Kahugu in less than two weeks, following a previous assault that claimed four lives.
"This is devastating. The attackers came late at night, shooting indiscriminately. Three people were killed instantly, while three others were taken away," Dauda said.
Residents are now pleading with the Kaduna State Government and security agencies to deploy military personnel urgently to the area.
They also highlighted poor network coverage as a factor aiding the bandits' operations, calling for improved telecommunications infrastructure.
"We need security presence and better communication facilities to save our people," Dauda added.
As of press time, the Kaduna State Police Command has not issued an official statement on the incident, and efforts to reach spokespersons were unsuccessful.
The repeated attacks underscore ongoing security challenges in rural Kaduna communities, despite heightened military operations in the region.
