Bandits Abduct Three Mourners in Kwara While Returning from Condolence Visit

Suspected armed bandits on Sunday morning kidnapped three family members in the Agboro community of Patigi Local Government Area, Kwara State, as they returned from a condolence visit.

The victims, Abiodun Abidemi, his brother Abiodun Olumide, and their nephew Ayomide Moses (son of the deceased) were travelling from Agboro to Isanlu in Kogi State when they were ambushed around 7:00 a.m. on December 7, 2025.

A community source, Abubakar Ahman, confirmed the abduction, stating that the three men had attended the burial and condolence rites of a relative and were heading home when gunmen blocked the road and forcibly took them into the bush.

As of Tuesday, no contact had been established with the kidnappers and no ransom demand has been received, according to family members.

The Kwara State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement, but local vigilantes and security operatives have reportedly launched a search in the forests along the Kwara-Kogi border axis.

The incident has heightened fear among residents of Patigi and neighbouring communities, where kidnapping for ransom has surged in recent months despite increased military and police patrols in the area.
