The Anambra State Police Command has dismantled a key supply chain delivering food and other logistics to a criminal gang linked to secessionist activities in the state, arresting two suspected members in a pre-dawn raid.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the operation in a statement issued on Friday.
The suspects, identified as Mmadubuchi Ike (28) and Chinonso Izunobi (34), were apprehended on Wednesday, December 11, 2025, at a hideout between Orsumoghu and Aguluezechukwu communities in Ihiala Local Government Area.
A joint team comprising the Rapid Response Squad (Awkuzu) and the Agunechemba Unit acted on credible intelligence to execute the raid.Items recovered from the suspects include:
One Type 06 rifle with 10 rounds of live ammunition
Two pump-action guns
Twenty live cartridges
During interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to belonging to the syndicate that provides logistical support to gunmen operating from camps in the Orsumoghu–Aguluezechukwu axis.
Further investigation linked the duo to the murder of a Ukpor community youth leader popularly known as “Biggy” and multiple kidnapping incidents across Anambra State.
Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, assured residents that the command is intensifying efforts to arrest other fleeing members of the gang.
“The command remains resolute in its commitment to the safety and security of lives and property in Anambra, especially as the festive season approaches,” CP Orutugu stated.Investigation is ongoing.
The suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
