Nigeria has qualified for the last 16 of the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations following a 3-2 victory over Tunisia on Saturday night.
The Super Eagles began their tournament with a narrow 2-1
win over Tanzania on Tuesday.
And they came into this game knowing that three points
against the Carthage Eagles would put them in control of Group C.
The North Africans had thrashed Uganda 3-0 in their opening
fixture and were also keen to qualify.
But Victor Osimhen headed Nigeria into the lead before the
break, before goals from Wilfred Ndidi and Ademola Lookman put Eric Chelle’s
men in firm control.
Tunisia pulled one back through Montassar Talbi, before a
late penalty was converted by Ali Al-Abdi.
The result means Nigeria has six points from two matches,
while Tunisia remains second with three points.
