Osun State Governor, Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has been cleared by the Accord Party as the only aspirant to contest its governorship primary election holding today in Osogbo, the state capital.
The party’s screening committee confirmed that Governor Adeleke fulfilled all constitutional and statutory requirements for nomination, making him the automatic flagbearer for the August 2026 governorship election.
Chairman of the screening committee and National Organising Secretary of Accord, Elder Ibe Thankgod, presented the clearance certificate to the governor, describing him as a “worthy and qualified gubernatorial aspirant.”Other members of the committee were Abdurahaman Muhammed, Abdulahi Sani Muhammed, and Mrs. Awogbade Rachael.
The development comes weeks after Governor Adeleke formally defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Accord Party, where he now seeks re-election on the smaller party’s platform.
