Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, General Olufemi Oluyede, has assured that the Armed Forces would double their efforts to contain terrorism in Nigeria.
General Oluyede gave this assurance shortly after meeting
with the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, on Monday.
He said that contrary to the allegation of US President
Donald Trump, there is no Christian persecution in Nigeria.
Recall that Trump had declared Nigeria a ‘Country of
Particular Concern’ over allegations of Christian genocide in the country.
Reacting, the defence chief said, “There is no Christian
persecution in Nigeria. I want to assure Nigerians that, going forward, we are
going to add more to what we are doing to checkmate this act of terrorism
within Nigeria.”
