Suspected armed herdsmen have launched fresh attacks on Div, Nzaav and Jato-Aka in the Turan axis of Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State, leaving two persons dead and and many others innured.
It was gathered that two identified victims, Iornenge Utyo
and Ywerkaa Tsavnande, were recovered lifeless following the attack, while
several persons mostly women and children remain missing as search operations
continue across the affected communities.
According to community members, the armed herders stormed
the villages in the early hours of the day, forcing many residents to flee for
safety.
The extent of destruction is yet to be fully ascertained as
locals continue combing bushes and deserted homes in search of missing persons.
Residents are calling for urgent security intervention to
prevent further bloodshed and displacement in the affected communities.
