Soldiers from 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, under Operation Peace Shield, have neutralized four bandits and repelled an attack by armed bandits during a communal clash between Shomo and Wurkun communities in Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The violence erupted in Usmanu village, where 15 houses were set ablaze before military intervention.Acting on distress calls, troops arrived at the scene around 9:35 a.m. on November 29.
Upon arrival, approximately 50 bandits opened fire on the soldiers, triggering a fierce gun battle.
The troops overpowered the assailants, killing four on the spot and forcing the rest to flee.Items recovered include one locally fabricated AK-47 rifle, three dane guns, 25 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and two magazines.
One suspected collaborator was arrested and is currently in military custody for interrogation.
Military sources say troop morale remains high as clearance and stabilization operations continue in the area.
