Tinubu to Unveil Nigeria's First Electric Tricycle on Wednesday

President Bola Tinubu will on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, unveil Nigeria’s first locally assembled electric tricycle at Eagle Square, Abuja, in a major boost for the administration’s clean-energy and youth-empowerment drive.

Israel Olajumoke, CEO of House of Destiny, the company that designed and developed the eco-friendly tricycle told journalists on Monday that the project has been fully adopted by the federal government in partnership with the Ministry of Youth Development.

“The world is moving to electric mobility. In China, over 70 percent of vehicles are now electric. Nigeria cannot afford to be left behind,” Olajumoke said.

He explained that the tricycle can be charged from any power source grid, generator, or solar, using its dedicated charging gun, addressing concerns about Nigeria’s erratic electricity supply.

“The system is simple to assemble, uses replaceable components instead of repairable parts, and local technicians have already been trained,” he added.

House of Destiny has partnered with the National Association of Tricycle Owners and Riders (NATOMORAS) for nationwide rollout. Production currently takes place with Chinese partners, but a new assembly plant in the Abuja Free Trade Zone will be operational within six months, with additional factories planned for Ogun State and other parts of the country.

“This is more than a tricycle; it is a national movement for economic growth, environmental sustainability, and massive job creation for Nigerian youth,” Olajumoke declared.
