President Bola Tinubu has directed Vice President Kashim Shettima to visit Kebbi State on Wednesday to console the state government, families, and parents over the recent abduction of schoolgirls from a boarding school in Maga, assuring them of the Federal Government’s commitment to securing the girls’ safe and speedy return.
In a State House statement, the President expressed deep sorrow over the kidnapping, which occurred despite prior intelligence warnings, and commended Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris for efforts made to prevent the attack.
President Tinubu also extended heartfelt condolences to the Nigerian Armed Forces following the death of Brigadier General Musa Uba and several gallant soldiers killed in action while combating insurgents in Borno State.
Describing the incidents as deeply depressing, the President, who has been fully briefed by military authorities, reiterated that security agencies have been directed to leave no stone unturned in rescuing the abducted girls and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
He emphasised the critical role of citizens in the fight against insecurity, urging communities especially in vulnerable areas to volunteer timely intelligence to the military, police, and Department of State Services (DSS).
“As Commander-in-Chief, I am saddened by the tragic loss of Brigadier General Musa Uba and our brave soldiers who paid the ultimate price. May God comfort their families and grant them eternal rest,” President Tinubu said.He added:
“No Nigerian child should have their education interrupted by heartless criminals. I have ordered our security forces to act decisively and reunite these girls with their families without delay.”
The President stressed that optimum performance by security agencies depends heavily on public cooperation, calling on community leaders and citizens nationwide to share actionable information that can preempt attacks and keep communities safe.
