President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has named Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State as the Renewed Hope Ambassador, ahead of the nationwide rollout of the Ward Development Programme.
The appointment, announced in a statement by Bayo Onanuga, the President's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, takes immediate effect.
Uzodimma will also serve as Director-General for Party Outreach, Engagement, and Mobilisation, working closely with All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership and fellow governors to promote the administration's agenda.
As head of the Progressive Governors Forum, Uzodimma's mandate includes fostering unity, inclusivity, and coordinated efforts across party ranks.
He will spearhead grassroots mobilization, engaging citizens and collaborating with APC governors who will similarly act as Ambassadors of Hope to highlight the government's progress since Tinubu's inauguration in May 2023.
The President emphasized the need to counter public skepticism by spotlighting tangible successes.
"I urge you to ensure that every Nigerian knows and appreciates the strides we're making," Tinubu conveyed in a direct message to Uzodimma.
Under Tinubu's leadership, the Nigerian economy has shown marked resilience. Inflation, a persistent challenge, has declined for the seventh consecutive month, dipping to 16.05% in October.
The naira exchange rate has steadied, while foreign exchange reserves have surged past $46 billion this month up from a mere $32 billion gross and $4 billion net position inherited in 2023.
Investor trust is rebounding, fueling rises in foreign direct investment (FDI) and portfolio inflows, particularly in the oil and gas sector.
The Nigerian Stock Exchange is experiencing a historic rally, and diversification efforts are gaining traction, with solid minerals emerging as a key growth driver.
Social reforms are also accelerating: a new liberal student loan scheme has already onboarded over 700,000 beneficiaries, and passport processing times have been slashed to under a week.
Uzodimma's role will focus on disseminating these milestones, reinforcing the "Renewed Hope" narrative as the administration prepares to deepen its impact through programs like Ward Development, aimed at localized economic empowerment.
