In a brazen security lapse, a thief infiltrated the Kano State Government House early Monday and escaped with a Toyota Hilux from the deputy governor’s convoy, DAILY NIGERIAN reports.
The suspect entered through Gate 4 around 5 a.m. and drove the vehicle out via the main gate without detection.
Security officials later confirmed the escape route through reviewed CCTV footage.
Insiders at the Government House disclosed that patrols in the deputy governor’s office complex occur only during working hours or when he is on site, potentially leaving a vulnerability exploited by the thief.
The vehicle’s driver, Shafiu Sharp-Sharp, has been questioned and temporarily detained amid the probe. “An investigation is underway.
The driver is under interrogation, and the CSO is examining the CCTV footage,” a source said.Security agencies have been notified with a complete vehicle description to facilitate recovery and the suspect’s capture.
Attempts to obtain comments from Governor Abba Yusuf’s spokesman, Sanusi Dawakin Tofa, went unanswered as he did not respond to calls or messages.
