He promised government support to help them recover from their losses.
The Governor, who was out of town at the time of the incident, sent his representative, Commissioner for Investment, Commerce, Industry, and Cooperative, Gwani Shehu Wada Sagagi, to visit the victims and convey his condolences.
“The Governor personally called me to express his sympathy and directed me to visit the traders on his behalf,” Commissioner Sagagi said, as contained in a press statement issued by the Ministry’s Public Relations Officer, Mohammad Nura Yusuf.
Expressing concern over the rising number of fire incidents in markets across Kano, Governor Yusuf also directed the Ministry to embark on a sensitization programme to educate traders and business owners on the benefits of Islamic Insurance as a way to mitigate losses from fire and other unforeseen events.
